Tuesdays with Morrie

August 19, 2019

Firstly, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who enthusiastically supported the idea of the Dear Diary Book Club. We love our Dear Diary family and the fact that you are just as interested in all things inspiration, being the best version of yourself, asking questions and brainstorming on different ideas as much as we are. So we thought of creating this book club as an outlet where we all can share our lessons, highlights and takeaways on subjects like mindfulness, motivation, wellbeing, happiness, personal growth, love and relationships (with yourself and others). We are so excited...

The Four Agreements

August 19, 2019

This could probably be described as one of the most “to the point” books I’ve recently read. It’s what makes this book so valuable and memorable - you can apply these simple truths to your life and let them guide you through decisions, doubt and questions. The way you think, the way you are with others, the decisions you have to make, dealing with challenges - these simple yet profound agreements will help you find answers. If you let it, this book can give you a way to discover yourself and achieve personal freedom. The main goal of the DD...

The Road Less Travelled

August 19, 2019

The Road Less travelled is an extraordinary book about life and it’s challenges. Possibly because it is written by a psychiatrist who has delved deep into specific cases and profound insights of his clients - finding the very base cause for their struggles, unhappiness and confusion. From that, he suggests that facing our difficulties and the acceptance of some sort of suffering can reach a higher level of understanding ourselves. This book connects psychology and spirituality, showing how closely they work together. Personally, I found most of the value in the beginning of the book - especially the sections about...

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

August 19, 2019

This is easily one of my favourite books that I've read in the last 2 years or so. I would say top 3. Perhaps the timing was right and I felt that I can relate to it so much or perhaps it just is that good and a great read for anyone at any point in their lives. I really enjoy Mark Manson's blog in general, but it's great to keep something physical on your bedside table that reminds you to choose your battles wisely. How much better our lives would be, if we only focused on the things that...

Places I Stopped on the Way Home

August 16, 2019

After reading a few self-help/self-improvement books one after another during the last few months, picking up this memoir with short essays was refreshing and just reminded me how important it is to switch up the content you use. This was the perfect book to open up in the evening, with a cup of tea and get lost in this love letter to 20ies and reflect on your own thoughts and life. I hadn't heard of Meg Fee before reading Places I Stopped on the Way Home, but I really enjoyed getting to know her through this book. When quickly skimming...
